John grew up playing club soccer in Bakersfield and Los Angeles. He played collegiately at UCLA from '00-'03, winning Pac-10 Championships in '02 and '03, and a National Championship in '02. After his college career, John played semi-professionally in southern california and for the San Francisco Seals. John has continued to play amateur men's soccer, winning the USASA O-30 National Championship in '12 with Christos FC of Maryland.
John began formally coaching in '05 with the Mustang Soccer Club in Danville, California. In '06, he earned his NSCAA National Diploma. He was an Assistant Coach at Springfield College in Massachusetts in '07 while earning his Masters degree in Athletic Counseling. He has several years experience working at camps, as a director of training, and as a consultant to other coaches.
