Jovan Yamagishi enters his 1st year as Executive Director with San Francisco Vikings Soccer Club. Born in Japan, he grew up playing the sport with players from all around the world while attending Canadian Academy (an international school) in Kobe, Japan. After a stint with NCAA Division I soccer program, Hartwick College, Jovan decided to take the next step in becoming a professional soccer player at age 19. He started his professional career in Uruguay for Club Sportivo Miramar Misiones and then transferred to Norway for Sandefjord Fotball where his team earned promotion to the top division of country. Later, Jovan went back to Japan where he played for another four seasons before hanging up his boots as a player and embarking on his next journey as a coach.
After his playing days, Jovan went back to his studies and earned his bachelors degree in Early Child Care and Development through an online program called University Without Walls from University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Jovan also holds the Japanese Football Association 'C' License and NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. He has worn a variety of hats within the youth soccer world having coached for the U.S. Development Academy with San Jose Earthquakes, directed in clubs such as Dublin United as Technical Director and San Ramon Futbol Club as Development Director, and has also led both men's and women's college programs at Holy Names University as Head of Soccer.
