Welcome to the Viking Club U15-18 Recreational Soccer Program !
This program plays 7 vs. 7 or 6 vs 6 games on Saturdays from Sept.-Nov.
Cost is $55 for the season.
Unfortunately, we do not allow full teams to come into the league already formed. The Club policy has been (and will continue to be) that the participants in this league sign up as individual players and are placed on a squad. In placement, every attempt is made to place a player with up to 2 other players they wish to play with (this has worked out well so far, in almost all instances team rosters had 3 players who have previously played together).
There also are no "coaches" per se....nor individual team practices during the week. There are team managers who run substitutions during the game and provide minimal direction/commentary to the players during the match; the philosophy of the league being that this is recreational play, these players are old enough to know the game, and we want the players to "own" their game as opposed to being told what to do by adults. So, each squad does not have their own individual practices each week; they are not allowed to, actually, by SF rec & Park who allocated the fields. The program provides one "drop-in" session per week available to ALL players who play in the league. Rosters are created to insure parity of teams, thus fun for all....
This league was created as an alternative to the available competitive level 1 or level 3 cysa soccer leagues which require travel and also significant expenditure; it's intent is to provide HS age girls and boys still interested in playing the game and keeping their skills up during HS off-season, but unable or uninterested in making the sort of commitment which Club team play requires, with a fun venue to do so. There are some very good players who participate, some whose skills are average, and some whose skills are below average but still love the game.
