The SFVSC Barbarians Red team qualified for the President’s Cup Western States Regional Competition to be held June 13-17 in Denver, Colorado. Look for more information from the team managers as they prepare for the trip.

2012 Northwest Regional Futsal Tournament:
Barbarians 415- 2nd Place

The Barbarians Red are a select travel team playing in the silver division of the CYSA. The team recently qualified for the Western States Regional President’s Cup Competition in Denver. The team plays year-round soccer, with futsal an important component of the program. Barbs Red have sent teams to regional and national futsal tournaments for the past two years. Playing one age division “up,” they won the Golden Gate Invitational in 2011.
 
Coach Joey Almeida has spent a half decade coaching with San Francisco Vikings Soccer Club. In his first year with Barbarians Red, his team won the GGI in U14 category and qualified for regional competition in the President’s Cup. He previously served as the head coach of SFVSC Rebels the last four years leading them from Class 3 to Class 1 while at the helm from ages U11–U14.  Coach Almeida also has extensive experience at the High School level where he served as a head coach at both the Frosh and JV levels at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Saint Ignatius, and F.A.I.S. International High School the past eight years. Coach Almeida is a gifted technical player who puts a strong emphasis on futsal as a training platform.
